Delayed Intensification Day 44: Infection Part 2

Scarlett has been fever free for almost 24 hours. Her cultures last night came back positive for gram positive cocci. This is a much “better” infection than gram negative. She was started on a third antibiotic last night. Her cultures today came back negative so the antibiotics must be working. She is in a lot of pain from being so constipated. We are giving her every medication we can to help alleviate that but she is so afraid to poop that she is holding it in. Hopefully tomorrow will show some improvement.

(Update 2:). Scarlett’s latest temp was 101. Hopefully it is from the stress of the pain and not a worsening infection.
